Functional Capacity Evaluations and Cost of Future Care Assessments
WRC’s Functional Evaluations are Comprehensive, Objective and Defensible. They provide the following:
- Collaboration with the referral source to determine the best way is to evaluate the client fairly and accurately. This may include laboratory based Functional Capacity Evaluation, a Home Based Evaluation, or both. Depending on an individual’s circumstances, a work place evaluation or facility based (hospital, care facility, etc) evaluation may also be conducted.
- Our goal is to determine the individual’s current functional status, as it relates to their ability to care for themselves and their family, to access their home and community safely, to engage in paid or unpaid work, including education, housekeeping and childcare, and to engage in leisure or recreational activities.
- Information is gathered from medical and other documents provided by the referral source, client interview and questionnaires, and through physical and functional testing. Standardized testing is used whenever possible but the clinical expertise and experience of the therapist is key to taking all aspects of the individual, the environment and the tasks into consideration. In some cases, with the permission of the injured individual or guardian, family members, caregivers, or employers may also be interviewed.
- We plan for future care based on the information gathered from the injured individual, the medical documents reviewed, and literature, also taking into consideration functional cognition and psychosocial aspects.
